I recently came to Peter for advice and help. Until October last year, I’d been making good progress in my business, where, among other things, I’m involved in multi-level marketing (network marketing). I’d advanced a couple of rungs on my career ladder, when suddenly everything stopped. I had no new clients and I didn’t hear from my old clients; the network had stagnated or even regressed, and, despite having worked on my limiting and negative beliefs, I was constantly going around in circles. I felt that my limiting beliefs were related to authority, leadership, accountability … Peter and I started “digging” right away. He took me back to a memory of an event in my childhood, when I’d felt my mother’s mistrust, her lack of support and protection. When I was between five and seven years old, we lived in a house with my aunt, my mother’s sister. Her husband liked to play practical jokes on us, the children, in a cynical way, and that was the case on that summer evening. He promised to take the one who changed into his or her pyjamas first for an ice-cream in a nearby ice-cream parlour. Of course, we children naïvely hurried to change. Instead of the promised reward, however, we were ridiculed by him, saying “well, who would take you for an ice-cream in your pyjamas”. Instead of protecting us, my mother was angry because we’d been so naïve, and she slapped my brother and me. My mother was, of course, the epitome of authority, protection and leadership for me. It seems that, subconsciously, at that time I created a strong image of leaders being like that, which is why I didn’t want to become a leader. When I actually became a manager and should have been a leader – I should have acted as a support for my network – I got stuck, because I inhibited myself on a subconscious level. Peter and I quickly removed the limiting feelings and beliefs.
The actual results? I’m ready to take more risks and create new investments. I started an active search for new colleagues and new people are coming to me with offers for business cooperation, new possibilities for working abroad are opening for me … What else is possible if you do some gardening and digging in your garden?!
