A few days ago, I was returning from a mountain hike and caught up with a limping acquaintance. She explained that she had sprained her ankle just before we met. The path was quite “appropriate” for something like that – some surface snow, a little icy and uneven – so an accident was inevitable. What followed, however, was even more interesting.
I know what Louise Hay says in her book Heal Your Body about ankles and problems with them: “Ankles represent the ability to receive pleasure; they represent flexibility and direction. Ankle problems point to inflexibility and guilt.” So, I dug deeper … Eventually, she candidly admitted that she felt guilty because her husband had gone down with the flu and she hadn’t stayed with him, instead taking this trip by herself …
“That’s how it is …”
